Livonia and Utica Lose Their Popular Buca di Beppo Locations
Big news in the Michigan food scene folks: It appears that popular Italian restaurant chain Buca di Beppo has packed up and left our state. Sadly, their locations in both Livonia and Utica are now listed as permanently closed.
Known for its hearty Italian dishes like spaghetti with meatballs, fettuccine alfredo, and lasagna, Buca di Beppo was a frequented spot by many who loved their family-style servings. A quick glance on their website confirms no more Michigan locations listed there.
The Livonia spot, located at 38888 Six Mile Road between Interstate 275 and Haggerty Road, shut its doors last week. If you’re a member of the Facebook group, All Things Livonia, you’d probably have seen some chatter about it. In a statement sent out via email, Buca di Beppo shared, “After being part of this community for 25 years, regrettably, Buca di Beppo in Livonia has closed. We thank our customers for their loyalty — it was our privilege to be the backdrop for countless gatherings and celebrations over the past two decades.”
Over in Utica, the trattoria on Hall Road seems to have said its goodbye sometime in June. If you try to ring up the place now, you’d be greeted with a recorded message stating the location has permanently closed.
The city clerk of Utica, Lori Cooke, shared that on June 19, a city inspector went to the restaurant site and confirmed the closure. The restaurant still had its sign hanging as of July 24, and the city had sent the owners a letter stating they have 30 days to take the sign down as per city sign ordinances.
For those not in the know, Buca di Beppo is one among several brands under the Florida-based Earl Enterprises portfolio that includes the likes of Chicken Guy, Bravo Italian Kitchen, and Planet Hollywood.
It is indeed a sad day for Michigan foodies who cherished the Italian offerings of Buca di Beppo. We’ll certainly keep an eye out for future developments and keep you posted.
