Wixom’s Bluewater Technologies to Host Tech Expo this August

Bluewater Technologies, a women-owned experimental agency based in Wixom specializing in sensory storytelling across digital and physical canvases, is set to host a Tech Expo event on August 21-22 at its headquarters. The two-day event aims to provide educational opportunities and showcase cutting-edge AV technology.

The Tech Expo is inviting industry professionals to explore the latest AV innovations, gain valuable insights, and network with peers. Educational sessions will be conducted by industry leaders, including Planar, Creston, K-WAV, Absen, Barco, Yealink, Draper, Spaceti, and more.

New Autonomous Rescue Vehicle Unveiled at GVSETS 2024

During the 16th Annual Ground Vehicle Systems Engineering & Technology Symposium (GVSETS) held in Novi, an advanced semi-autonomous off-road rescue vehicle, Deep Orange 15, was unveiled. This vehicle, developed through an 18-month collaboration between Clemson University’s Department of Automotive Engineering master’s and Ph.D. students, and industry professionals, aims to address challenges in natural disaster relief and off-road terrain rescue missions.

The vehicle emphasizes the importance of autonomous technology in both military and civilian contexts. It is designed to improve rescue response times in extreme environments, thus minimizing personnel requirements for individual rescue operations.

Ally Bank Launches First Money Psychology Program

Ally, the nation’s largest all-digital bank, based in Detroit, has launched a free online money psychology program called Money Roots. Rooted in money psychology, this financial therapy is designed to help people better understand their relationships with money, ultimately assisting in making more informed spending and saving decisions. This comes after an Ally survey discovered that nearly half of Americans make spending decisions influenced by their emotions while a third never seek emotional support for managing personal finances.

Birmingham Cruise Event Returns this August

The Birmingham Shopping District’s Birmingham Cruise Event is making a comeback to South Old Woodward Avenue in the heart of downtown Birmingham on Saturday, August 17, during the Woodward Dream Cruise. The program, TXU Free EV Miles, offers the opportunity to charge their vehicles at home entirely for free during specific hours, with a credit on their TXU Energy bill for all energy used during these periods. The offering is designed to educate consumers about electric driving benefits while incentivizing to charge when the grid demand is at its lowest.

Washtenaw Community College (WCC) in Ann Arbor and the United Association (UA) celebrate 35 years of their skilled trades partnership during this week’s annual training week. The five-year Instructor Training Program (ITP) equips union instructors to train all UA members on the best industry safety and training practices. Union members may also enroll simultaneously as WCC college students and earn an associate degree.
