ACMA is proud to have surpassed 20,000 members and honored several individuals with the Case Management Hero Award. The association also launched a scholarship fund and introduced new standards for care transitions, showcasing its commitment to the future of case management.

Celebration of 25 Years: ACMA Marks a Major Milestone

This year is special for the American Case Management Association as it marks a fantastic 25 years of supporting professionals who work tirelessly in case management and transitions of care. The celebrations kicked off with an exhilarating national conference that attracted over 1,800 attendees from all around the country, gathering together to learn, network, and most importantly, celebrate!

A Spectacular Conference in Music City

The 25th Anniversary National Conference was held in a vibrant city known for its rich musical heritage. Attendees enjoyed three full days packed with education, networking, and memorable experiences, including a delightful concert at the iconic Grand Ole Opry. It was not just a conference; it was a grand reunion for case managers, social workers, nurses, and physicians who have contributed significantly to the field!

Growing Membership and Recognition

During this milestone year, the ACMA crossed a remarkable threshold, boasting a membership that has now surpassed 20,000 nationwide. This growth reflects the increasing recognition of the vital role case management plays in the healthcare delivery system.

As part of this festive celebration, the association presented the prestigious Case Management Hero Award to three exceptional individuals. This year, Robin Simpson was honored posthumously, and Liane Sigl and Kyle Gaylean were recognized for their outstanding contributions to case management.

Supporting Future Case Managers

To further its commitment to enhancing the field, ACMA also announced the launch of the Karen Vanaskie Scholarship Fund. This fund has been created to support professionals striving to earn the association’s Accredited Case Manager Certification. It pays homage to Karen Vanaskie, a dedicated advocate for excellence in the world of case management.

Research and Resources to Elevate Standards

Collaboration has been key to ACMA’s success over the years. This milestone year saw extensive teamwork with the Association of Physician Leadership in Care Management to analyze findings from two significant surveys, notably the National Case Management and Transitions of Care Survey and the Physician Leaders in Care Management Survey. These surveys have been gathering data since 2001, showcasing the evolution of case management practices and insights.

Another exciting addition is the introduction of a newfound Health Plan library, integrated into the popular Compass Directional Training Tool. It is in use by over 70% of hospitals in the U.S., and now boasts an impressive collection of over 30 hours of training across more than 65 modules. Designed for case managers and transitions of care professionals, this library is like a treasure chest of knowledge.

Celebrating National Case Management Week

With enthusiasm in the air, ACMA celebrated National Case Management Week alongside the Commission for Case Manager Certification. The theme this year centered around “Case Management: Encouraging, Engaging & Empowering,” underlining the importance of both support and empowerment in this essential field.

Innovative Learning Through Podcasts

In keeping with modern trends, ACMA launched the “Care Transitions Today: Case Conversations” podcast series. This innovative series presents real-world medical scenarios, alongside expert discussions about the best practices in case management. It’s a fun way to learn while on the go!

New Standards for Care Transitions

Staying progressive, ACMA has revised its original Transitions of Care (TOC) Standards in partnership with Pfizer. The revamped TOC 2.0 standards now specifically address Social Determinants of Health (SDOH), ensuring that care transitions reflect the contemporary complexities faced by patients today.

Commitment to a Brighter Future

Through 25 years of dedication, the ACMA has proven itself as a leader in the case management field since its inception back in 1999. With continued efforts to provide exceptional resources, education, and support, it actively inspires professionals who make a difference every day. Here’s to the next generations of case managers and the amazing future of the ACMA!
