Hey South Lyon folks, the community center we all know as Active Faith is making a big move. They’re packing up and relocating to a new building, promising to bring us more services and support. So, how about showing them some love and chipping in for the cause?

Just in case you’re new around, Active Faith is all about pitching in for those in need. Over the last couple of decades, they’ve been serving up some great stuff like a food pantry, vocational services, and even school kick-off events for the little ones. Not to brag, but they’ve also got a four-star rating on Charity Navigator.

The good folks at Active Faith take care of everyone – from our senior folks only getting by on social security, to those hard-working families who are stuck on minimum wage, to people with disabilities. Right now, they’re lending a hand to nearly 700 families in South Lyon and the surrounding district – but they want to reach out to even more.

That’s where the new building comes in. It’s at 553 Lafayette Street, right in the heart of town, so it’s going to be a whole lot easier for people to find them. Plus, it’s more than double the size of the current one. This means they’ll be able to bring more services under one roof – things like tutoring, free health clinics and even mental health support.

Oh, and let’s not forget about parking. If you’ve ever visited the current location and struggled to find a parking spot, you’re gonna love this – the new place would have a whopping 33 parking spaces.

Active Faith has pulled in a state grant of $840,000 and got the building covered. However, they could do with a little help footing the bill for the renovation work. They’ve got to replace floors and plumbing, install a new on-demand water heater, and add new furnaces – among other things. So they’re running a capital campaign, where every dollar you donate goes straight towards these costs. They’ve raised over a million bucks so far but still need another half a million or so to make it to their goal.

They’re expecting to move into the new location next month and have everything running smoothly by November.

If you own a business in town, or are lucky enough to have some spare cash in your back pocket, consider this an investment in your community. Active Faith is here to provide a safety net for your neighbors who are having a tough time. By helping them out, you’re ensuring that South Lyon stays a safe and vibrant place to live, work, and raise a family.

So, if you’re up for it, head over to their website at activefaithcs.org to donate. You can also mail a check or even designate part of your 401K or IRA to go to Active Faith. Every little bit helps to lift our community up.
