Great News for Arcade Goers in Farmington Hills

The much-loved local attraction Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum seems to be on the verge of signing a lease for a new home. A recent Facebook post stated that an agreement is likely to be put on paper in the next couple of weeks.

While the owner expressed some disappointment over not finding a place with his desired ceiling height, he seemed content with the fact the new location would offer more space and is not too far off from their previous hot spot.

No official details are out yet about the exact location, but an announcement is anticipated soon after the lease gets signed.

This bit of news is surely a sigh of relief for the many fans of Marvin’s. Last year, a whopping 50,000 people had signed an online petition hoping to save the remarkable arcade and its unique collection of memorabilia when the news broke out that their current home is going to be demolished.

Marvin’s called a strip mall on Orchard Lake Road its home and, post-demolition, this spot is set to be transformed into a brand-new shopping center, with a focus on groceries.

Earlier in the year, it was mentioned in a City Council meeting that Jeremy Yagoda, Marvin’s owner, preferred to keep the arcade in the city. To this end, he was given assistance by city officials to locate a suitable new venue.

The arcade and its immense treasure trove of games and memorabilia have been a part of the local culture for over 40 years now. It owes its existence to Marvin Yagoda, Jeremy’s father, who founded the powerhouse of fun in the former Tally Hall food court in Farmington Hills.

Together, let’s keep our fingers crossed and eagerly await the exciting new chapter for Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum in Farmington Hills.
