Sponsor Our ArticlesIn Detroit, beer and cider enthusiasts are spoilt for choice thanks to a multitude of small breweries dotting the metropolis. These places offer their homemade brews – beers, ciders, and more, providing a unique perch for enjoying your favorite adult drinks with your friends.
Heights Brewing launched in the heart of Downtown Farmington earlier this year has emerged as the go-to destination for those who like their brews unique and fresh. Owners Ryan Kavanagh and Shawn MacDonnell, seasoned homebrewers, hog most of the credit for the place’s burgeoning popularity.
At Heights, you’ll find a variety of beers, hard ciders, hard seltzers, and even nonalcoholic drinks like root beer, all crafted at their onsite brewing facility. The duo even plans to introduce mead and wine shortly. Heights also provides for gluten-free beer lovers, keeping a sizable stash of gluten-free beers and barbecue items.
Beer and college mean a match made in heaven, and The Craft Grille’s brewpub shows that it is so, literally too. Managed by students enrolled in the brewing and distillation technology program at Schoolcraft College, the pub is settled comfortably inside the college’s Vistatech Center. Visitors are treated to a Kolsch-Style, Haggerty IPA, and College Pale Ale along with several other heady delights on a seasonally-revolving menu.
Novi’s first brewery, Ascension Brewing Company, since its establishment in 2015, has seen itself as the city’s go-to brewing hotspot. It boasts of 14 on-tap beers along with a handpicked can selection for home enjoyment. The microbrewery impresses not just beer enthusiasts, thanks to its unique farm-to-table menu and the sustainable brewing methods it employs. What’s more? You get to relish a new menu every season.
Ever since Arbor Brewing Company opened its Plymouth venue in 2019, it’s been drawing in crowds of diners and drinkers with its variety of seasonally-rotating ciders and beers. Eager to try their tried and tested favorites? Have a go at the company’s flagship beers like Euchre Pilsner, Strawberry Blonde, or the Buzzsaw IPA.
Northville Winery and Brewing Company, an integral part of Parmenter’s Northville Cider Mill and brewing since 1982, offers an impressive range of wines, beers, and hard ciders. Drop by anytime between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. from Wednesday through Saturday to experience their bests. And yes, you can also get your favorite beers and ciders packed for enjoying them at home too!
Clearly, dropping by any of these breweries in Metro Detroit is a sure-shot way to enjoy a refreshing adult beverage, whether you are alone or with your buddies.
