Our lovely city is gearing up for a one-of-a-kind, night-time event this weekend. The Kensington Metropark is hosting a throwback beach party themed “Blue Moon on the Beach”.
Here’s a chance to get groovy and party like it’s the 1980s with The Cosmic Groove Band. Everyone’s invited, and yep, help set the mood by showing up in your best 80s gear. Be ready for a night filled with live music, dancing, fun, and frolic under the starry, starry night.
But wait! This isn’t just any ordinary beach party. It’s a celebration for the much awaited celestial spectacle on Monday, August 19th when the full moon will be 2024’s first full supermoon. Also, it’s not just a supermoon, but a blue moon and a sturgeon moon!
The party will be held at Kensington’s Maple Beach on Kent Lake and will run from 8 pm to 11 pm. As the sky grows darker, Blue Moon viewing stations will be set up. Metroparks staff and partners will also be hosting a variety of fun activities and presentations. An unforgettable experience is just round the corner for everyone, irrespective of their age.
Guess what? You just have to show up! There’s absolutely no need to pre-register. Get your friends, family, bring along your blankets and chairs, and come join the biggest beach party of the year.
