Good news, caregivers! A special program known as Caregiver Connections is set to provide a mix of entertainment, education, and enlightenment for caregivers. This noteworthy event will be held in Novi coming this October 5th.

Organized by a non-profit organization, AgeWays Nonprofit Senior Services, the event is designed to support, inform, and assist caregivers in the sometimes challenging job of caring for older adults. The program will run from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with a $10 entrance fee, which covers a light breakfast and boxed lunch.

Caregiver Connections aims to be more than just an event. It aims to be a learning and sharing environment, decked with resources, raffles, giveaways, exhibitor stands, and more. The goal? To help caregivers connect with resources, relieve their load, and enhance their caregiving journey.

Guest Speakers

The program is set to feature two dynamic speakers who have walked in the shoes of caregivers. Emmy award-winning TV personality, Christy McDonald, is one of the guest speakers who will be sharing her personal caregiving journey. She will be speaking on the topic, “Hope, Grief, and The Unknown: A Caregiver’s Journey”.

Jim Mangi, Ph.D., is the second speaker who will be bringing his wealth of experience to the event. Having cared for his wife, who developed Alzheimer’s disease in her late 50s, Mangi will be speaking on how to communicate with people who have dementia, manage behaviors, and knowing when to seek more help.

More Than Just Talks

Outside the speaking agenda, the event boasts of exhibitors who are set to offer resources designed specifically to assist caregivers. Jason Tower, an attorney, will be discussing what important documents caregivers should possess.

AgeWays’ Resource specialists will also be onsite to provide one-on-one consultations with caregivers.
