In Clinton Township, a teen with an extensive criminal record has been charged with the fatal shooting of a mother. The teen, identified as 15-year-old Anthony Deshawn Sneed, appeared in court for an arraignment via video call. Sneed faces multiple charges, including murder, armed robbery, and firearms offenses.
During the court proceedings, the prosecution revealed Sneed’s repeated encounters with law enforcement. According to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, the accused has previously been convicted for carrying a firearm and using a stolen vehicle in Macomb County. He was recently charged with carjacking at gunpoint. Given Sneed’s concerning history and the severity of the current case, the court sided with the prosecution, deeming the teenager a potential danger to the community and the survivor of the recent shooting.
The shooting incident, which took place on September 4, resulted in the death of a mother Tasneen Sherrod and left her 15-year-old son injured. The police, upon arriving at a Detroit home on the city’s east side, found the victims outside with gunshot wounds. Sherrod was trying to defuse an escalating situation between her son and Sneed when the shooting incident occurred.
According to the police, Sneed had robbed Sherrod’s son of a handgun during a fight that led to the fatal shooting. After allegedly shooting Sherrod and her son, Sneed fled the scene. Tragically, Sherrod did not survive her injuries, though her son managed to pull through.
The day following the incident, Sneed turned himself in at a local police precinct. In court, the defense suggested that additional information might reveal another angle to the tragic event. The accused teenager’s next court appearance is slated for Sept. 18.
The unfolding case highlights the tragic outcomes of firearm violence and the grim reality of youths embroiled in crime. The community now awaits the next court hearing while grappling with the aftermath of this tragic incident.
