Excitement fills the air as the Dearborn Inn officially reopens after undergoing a stunning two-year renovation. Originally built in 1931 by the iconic Henry Ford himself, this hotel not only boasts a rich history but now showcases a blend of modern amenities and timeless heritage. Located just a stone’s throw from the Ford Motor Company and the historic Ford Airport, the inn is a part of America’s heart and soul.
On the beautiful day of March 19, 2025, a special reopening ceremony drew in a crowd of eager guests and dignitaries. With city officials and Ford Motor Company executives in the spotlight, the reopening was a testament to the dedication and passion that went into breathing new life into this iconic establishment.
Now officially a member of the prestigious Marriott Autograph Collection, the Dearborn Inn offers a unique lodging experience with a total of 135 charming rooms. Nightly rates start at a tempting $350, and with its historic roots, it promises an unforgettable stay. Every inch of the property, spanning 23 acres, has been meticulously designed to embrace the hotel’s deep history while adding a sprinkle of modern flair.
One of the inn’s claims to fame is its status as one of the very first airport hotels in the United States. Over the years, it has welcomed an array of notable guests, from the innovative Walt Disney to aviation pioneer Orville Wright and even the esteemed Eleanor Roosevelt. The recent renovations paid special attention to preserving its rich legacy – the checkerboard marble floors and the elegant green marble fireplace in the lobby bear a testament to the inn’s illustrious past.
In collaboration with design teams like AvroKO, Dash Design, and Kraemer Design Group, the renovation brought in interactive features that beckon creativity. Guests can now enjoy the fun of a vintage photo booth, express themselves in open sketchbooks, and experience the charm of mobile bar carts during their stay.
Food enthusiasts have something to celebrate too. The inn features two delightful new dining concepts. Clara’s Table offers a farm-to-table experience inspired by Clara Ford, utilizing seasonal ingredients and herbs from the on-site chef’s garden. Meanwhile, Four Vagabonds is a cocktail bar dedicated to the road trip adventures of Henry Ford and his contemporaries, where guests can savor craft cocktails along with a selection of small plates.
Later in 2025, guests will be treated to the reopening of five charming guest cottages, offering a cozy retreat. Additionally, a grand 17,000-square-foot event and meeting space will be available for hosting large gatherings, ensuring memorable moments for every occasion.
General Manager Joleisha Bradley has emphasized the inn’s vision of being a living museum. The hotel is adorned with historic artifacts, antique clocks, original Michigan-made furniture, and even a scrapbook containing heartfelt letters from past guests. The private dining room adjacent to the cocktail bar features a stunning mural that brings to life the adventurous spirit of the Four Vagabonds.
The historic Dearborn Inn now stands as a beacon of nostalgia while welcoming a new generation to embrace its legacy. Whether you’re traveling to stay the night or just stopping by for a meal, this enchanting hotel promises to deliver an experience that beautifully intertwines the famous past with contemporary comforts.
