Renowned Detroit Pastor Charged with Serious Sexual Offenses Involving Farmington Hills Teen

In Detroit, a renowned pastor has been charged with serious sexual offenses involving a teenage boy from Farmington Hills. Reverend Kenneth Flowers, the 63-year-old spiritual leader of the Greater New Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, is facing the justice system with grave charges on his name.

The pastor, a resident of Farmington Hills, is accused of coercing the teen into performing oral sex and using force to carry out the assault. Allegedly, the incident took place back in December 2023.

Rev. Flowers has been charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct that involved force or coercion and assault with intent to commit sexual penetration. These charges carry severe penalties if found guilty. Third-degree criminal sexual conduct could land him up to 15 years in prison, while the other charge, assault with intent to commit sexual penetration, has a penalty that could be up to 10 years imprisonment.

Flowers was arraigned at the 47th District Court in Farmington Hills. He was given a personal bond of $25,000 during the arraignment, meaning that he wasn’t required to post any cash or other assurances for his temporary freedom.

Rev. Flowers has a long history with the Greater New Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. He has been the pastor there since July 1995. He is due to appear in court next on August 7 for a pre-trial hearing before Judge Marla Parker.

The Detroit community is shocked by these charges against the renowned pastor. This incident is yet another blow to the reputation of religious leaders, who are supposed to guide and mentor the members of their community, especially the young ones.
