Livonia is buzzing with excitement as plans for a brand-new Nino Salvaggio International Marketplace unfold. Set to grace the campus of Schoolcraft College, this vibrant new destination is expected to open its doors in late 2025. A recent groundbreaking ceremony held on November 7 marked the official start of construction, getting the community fired up for what’s to come!
Situated in the north commuter lot at Schoolcraft College, the marketplace will be nestled near the Vistatech Center, right off Haggerty Road. This prime spot will not only provide easy access for students and faculty but also for residents of Livonia and surrounding areas. It’s all about bringing quality gourmet products closer to home!
If you’re familiar with Nino Salvaggio’s other locations, you know they’re famous for their gourmet offerings. From fresh produce and top-quality meats to mouthwatering baked goods, fragrant flowers, and everything in between, this new spot is set to be a culinary delight. It’s like stepping into a foodie paradise right in your own neighborhood!
This isn’t just about shopping; it’s also about education! The new Nino Salvaggio location will serve as an educational hub for students at Schoolcraft College. Students in programs like culinary arts and supply chain management will gain invaluable real-world experience. It’s an amazing opportunity to learn right where they shop!
Glenn Cerny, the president of Schoolcraft College, couldn’t have expressed it better: “Having a Nino Salvaggio International Marketplace right here on campus will give all of our students real-world experience that will enhance their education. This marketplace will help teach our students in ways no other community college can offer. We cannot wait for our students and the community to see this wonderful addition to the campus.”
Construction on the impressive 48,100-square-foot marketplace will be underway for several months. And it doesn’t stop there! Work on a new parking lot next to the Vistatech Center is expected to wrap up by December. It sounds like the construction crew has their work cut out for them, but the end result will be well worth the wait.
Nino Salvaggio’s story is one of passion and dedication. Founded by the late Nino Salvaggio in 1979, the company has remained a staple in quality gourmet goods across Michigan. The new Livonia store will be the latest addition to their expanding presence in the tri-county area, with existing locations in Bloomfield Township, Clinton Township, St. Clair Shores, and Troy.
Leo Salvaggio, one of the owners and Nino’s son, expressed his excitement: “On behalf of our entire Nino’s family, we are proud to make this significant investment in the community and excited to introduce our marketplace to Schoolcraft College and the surrounding neighborhoods. We’re pleased that Schoolcraft College and Nino Salvaggio share a commitment to being deeply rooted in the community we serve. We can’t wait to open our doors and welcome everyone to our newest store!”
The buzz in Livonia is palpable, with community members eager to support this new local hotspot. With a reputation for quality, a commitment to education, and a community focus, the Nino Salvaggio International Marketplace promises to be a beloved addition to the local landscape. Keep your eyes peeled for updates—this is one opening you won’t want to miss!
