Farmington Hills BBQ joint to close its doors after nearly half a century

And yes, they’re still planning to serve the famous ribs this coming weekend, offering both dine-in and carryout services. Monday, being Labor Day, will be carryout only.
But why is it closing, you ask? Well, it seems like the owners are ready for a well-deserved break. The driving force behind this decision is the retirement of the founders. There’s no drama here – no economic constraints or low sales. It’s just one of those feel-good stories where the older generation is ready to hang up their aprons and rest their weary feet, after having served their community loyally for decades.
The story of Bone Yard BBQ is a classic American tale. It was started by the current owner, Gordon Djordjevski’s folks, who passed it on to him. We are talking about three generations of delicious BBQ here!
Now, before you get your apron in a twist, there is still good news. While this particular location is closing, the original Bone Yard BBQ will still continue to operate. That’s right! You can still enjoy your favorite ribs, broasted chicken and family feast at their location at 7010 N. Telegraph in Dearborn Heights.
What’s more, the closure is not really the end of the road for this Farmington Hills location, but more of a farewell to the old building. Plans are already in the works for a brighter, shinier, and jazzier Boneyard to grace the town in the foreseeable future. So, hold your horses and your BBQ tongs for now!
As Djordjevski pointed out, this isn’t a goodbye, instead it’s more like “see you later”. The Boneyard has only sold the real estate but the soul of the establishment lives on.
