Exciting New Salon in Farmington Hills Embraces Natural Hair Movement

Natural hair care celebration.

Farmington Hills, a hub of style and beauty, has made waves with the launch of a new salon championing natural hair and hair care as a form of self-care. Hairstylist extraordinaire Julisa Anderson, widely known as the Hair Mistress, has chosen this vibrant city to unfold the pages of her new unique salon, Divine by Hair Mistress, set to officially open next year.

With a robust digital footprint and global clientele, Anderson has nurtured her brand to match current trends. With the backdrop of Detroit, she has designed a space to celebrate natural hair, offering a place where individuals can express themselves freely, while embracing and learning to care for their unique hair types.

“Hair care is a good form of self-care. So we definitely encourage that here”, said Anderson, asserting the mission of her salon.

‘Divine by Hair Mistress’ is no ordinary salon. It’s an embodiment of quality, diversity, and a deep understanding of hair care. Anderson, with her lead stylist Shanetelle Johnson, is steadfast in ensuring every client feels beautiful and confident in their own hair. Johnson emphasized, “A lot of people are falling in love with their natural hair” capturing the momentum the salon plans to harness.

Anderson moved to Detroit six years ago, drawn by the city’s thriving hair culture. For Johnson, a Southfield native who’s witnessed the city’s beauty industry steadily flourish, the excitement is equally shared.

Divine by Hair Mistress prepares to debut its finished renovations at a grand opening on May 4, 2025. While the salon currently accepts appointments and walk-ins, the new venture has already evidenced an overwhelming response from the community.

Besides offering a wide range of hair services, Anderson also intends to create a warm, friendly atmosphere in her salon. “I want to get that 90s salon vibe where people can come here, they’re able to just unwind and enjoy themselves.” said Anderson displaying a ‘clients first’ principle not found in many contemporary salons.
