Get ready, Detroit! LittleGuide Detroit, an authority on family-friendly happenings around the city, is once again hosting its highly anticipated and FREE Stroller Roll event. Scheduled for Saturday, July 20th, the family fun event is an opportunity for families to enjoy outdoor activities while also soaking in the beautiful setting of Wayne County Park’s Nankin Mills Recreation Area located along Hines Drive.
As the name might suggest, Stroller Roll isn’t a race or a formal walk. However, this event provides a delightful reason to step out of the house and get some fresh air. This year, Stroller Roll has upped the ante to provide more FREE family fun. The first Stroller Roll of 2024 will be held at Nankin Mills from 9 AM to 11 AM.
In a unique collaboration, the Stroller Roll will be a grand carnival this year, owing to a partnership with Wayne County Parks, which will simultaneously host its annual Bugtopia event. Since both the events will be conducted in the same space, families can enjoy a host of fun activities like inflatables, a Spider-Man visit, and engaging bug safari adventures. While the Stroller Roll event is absolutely FREE, you would need to register for it.
With characters from Fairytale Entertainment like Tinkerbelle, Ladybug Hero, Spider Hero, and Repunzel visiting, you can make sure your day is filled with fun and photos. If you are worried about safety, Stroller Roll has got that covered with FREE Bike Helmets for children from Gardner White.
Activities to keep your kids engaged include hands-on fun from Bubble Girl, activities by Huron-Clinton Metropark’s mobile nature center, Totcercise Mobile Soft Play Gym, We Rock the Spectrum Gym, and the fascinating science experiments from Mad Science.
Make sure you grab your giveaways from Goldfish Swim School, Michigan State University Broad College EMBA program, National Heritage Academies, and St. Michael the Archangel Catholic School. Touch-A-Truck activities with the Children’s Hospital of Michigan’s Panda One Ambulance, Wayne County Sherriff vehicle and Horses, Westland Fire Department, and Ford Motor Company / Southeast Michigan Ford Dealers are sure to be a hit with kids!
Once you are at Nankin Mills, you should definitely check out the playgrounds at the Nankin Mills Recreation Area, Merriman Hallow (1 mile from Nankin Mills) and Perrin Recreation Area (3.4 miles from Nankin Mills). There are bike tracks for children at the Hawthorne Ridge Recreation Area (1 mile from Nankin Mills). Fishing enthusiasts can check out the newly inaugurated fishing spot at Nankin Lake Dam, which is located slightly north of the Nankin Mills Recreation Area.
Convenient, free parking is provided at 33325 Edward N Hines Dr, Westland, MI 48185. Make sure you pre-register for the Stroller Roll at Nankin Mills in Westland.
Stroller Roll promises to be a day of non-stop fun and excitement. So, call or text your friends, plan a playdate and get ready for an amazing day out at Nankin Mills!
