Two Girls Safely Home After Creepy Encounter in Livonia

Livonia, Mich. – Two preteen girls are safe at home after a frightening experience earlier this week when a man approached them while they were outside. The girls, ages 12 and 13, had a scary evening on Sunday, which left their families relieved but shaken.

The girls ran to the home of a local mother seeking help after the unsettling encounter. “I am so proud of those girls. They had the foresight to know they needed to run to safety,” the mother said, reflecting on the incident.

The mother described the night as chilly and rainy when she heard frantic knocking on her front door around 6 p.m. “To hear that kind of sound, especially when it was getting dark and stormy, gave me chills,” she noted. The girls were visibly upset and explained to her that a man had approached them in a white delivery van that had “Fluid-something” on the side and Oregon plates.

The girls reported that the man exited the vehicle and asked them for their phone number, raising alarm bells for them. Acting quickly, the mother called 911 and informed the girls’ parents while her husband and sons went out to help search for the man.

Police arrived promptly and arrested the suspect shortly after. “He was in handcuffs so fast, I couldn’t believe it,” the mother recounted. Authorities later informed her that he was a dangerous individual with multiple warrants out for his arrest.

This incident has raised awareness about safety among children and parents in the community. A safety organization noted in a statement, “Adults should not be asking kids for directions or assistance. It’s crucial for children to have a safety plan and know what to do in scenarios like this.”

In light of this experience, the local mother emphasized the importance of being alert and aware of one’s surroundings. “It’s scary because it’s getting darker earlier. My daughter walks home from the bus stop, and I hope she has the courage to do what these girls did if she ever finds herself in a similar situation,” she said, highlighting the lessons learned from this encounter.

Thankfully, both girls are safely home, and their quick thinking ensured they avoided a potentially dangerous situation. This episode serves as a reminder for everyone to stay vigilant and prepared.
