In a tragic turn of events in Lincoln Park, Michigan, a state trooper was critically wounded, and a woman lost her life in a crash on the bustling I-75 on the morning of September 13, 2024.

The Incident

At around 8:40 a.m., the Michigan State trooper was carrying out a traffic stop on a semi-truck on I-75 near Dix. The trooper was in his patrol car when he was hit by another vehicle. Sources reveal that he was wearing his seat belt at the moment and was subsequently trapped in the patrol car due to the impact of the collision.

Eye-witnesses reported that the car seemed to have struck the median wall before continuing down the freeway. The vehicle then collided with the patrol car, causing it to crash into the rear of the semi-truck.

Trooper’s Condition

Emergency services had to extricate the trooper from the wreckage. The successful operation transported him to a local hospital, with a critical prognosis. Michigan State Police Director, Colonel James Grady II, offered some hope during a press conference later in the day, stating, “Things are swinging in the right direction for this officer and his family.”

Victim Details

The woman driving the car that initiated the crash was initially reported injured. Colonel Grady later updated this information, sadly confirming her death as a result of her injuries. The semi-truck driver who was initially pulled over at the time of the crash, fortunately, escaped uninjured.

The identity of the wounded trooper is currently being withheld, but it was shared that the trooper has served the agency for two years. The Michigan State Police have yet to release any information regarding the cause of the accident, and the investigation is ongoing.
