Electricity generated from diverse sources like wind, solar, nuclear, water and natural gas is transmitted across state lines via a comprehensive network of high-voltage power lines. This electricity is then passed on to utilities like DTE and Consumers Energy who distribute it to the end-users.
Looking after such widespread operations involving an annual revenue of over 1.6 billion dollars requires a great deal of vigilance for potential grid failures. It undergoes security drills several times a year to simulate ransomware attacks, while regular background checks are conducted for the staff.
