Kevin Francis Kelly, 60, Celebrated for His Love of Family and Nature Following His Passing

In the charming town of Gaylord, Michigan, the community is mourning the loss of a beloved father, brother, and friend, Kevin Francis Kelly. Kevin, who graced the world with his warmth and laughter for 60 wonderful years, passed away on January 21, 2025.

A Life Filled with Passion and Joy

Born on May 16, 1964, in Wyandotte, Michigan, Kevin was the cherished son of Roger John Kelly and Jacqueline Marie (Labadie) Kelly. He grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, where he developed a zest for life that was infectious. From a young age, Kevin cultivated his love for cooking, cheering on the Wolverines, swinging clubs on the golf course, and mastering the intricate game of euchre.

Family First

Kevin’s greatest joy, however, came from his family. He was a proud father to three wonderful children: Christopher (with his wife, Victoria), Nicholas, and Theresa. The bond he shared with them was unbreakable, and he always made time to create lasting memories together.

Living in Bloomfield Hills initially, Kevin later embraced the serene beauty of nature at the Kelly family cabin in Gaylord, where fishing became more than just a hobby; it was a cherished family tradition. The peaceful lakes became the backdrop for laughter, love, and many fishing tales that will be retold for generations to come.

Time Spent with Nature

Beyond the family ties, Kevin had a unique connection with nature. Lake outings brought him the kind of happiness that was simply irreplaceable. Whether it was catching fish or simply soaking up the sun, each moment spent outdoors filled his soul. Even more heartwarming was the special bond he shared with his loyal dog, Pearl. The duo could often be seen wandering the trails or lounging in the sun, a true testament to their friendship.

A Circle of Love

Kevin is also survived by his sisters, Kathy (married to Phil), Julie (married to Peter), and Molly (married to Paul). He cherished countless moments with his many nephews, nieces, and extended family, who will forever carry him in their hearts. His parents, Roger and Jackie Kelly, preceded him in death, and the family is finding strength in remembering the joy Walter brought to their lives.

Farewell, but Not Forgotten

To honor Kevin’s memory, a Funeral Mass will be held on February 1, 2025, at St. James Catholic Church, located at 46325 W. 10 Mile Road in Novi, Michigan. The Mass will commence at 11 am sharp. Following the service, a heartfelt reception will take place at The Garage Grill, situated at 202 W. Main Street in Northville. This gathering will provide the space for family and friends to come together, sharing cherished stories, laughter, and memories of Kevin while enjoying a delicious luncheon.

In the wake of this loss, Kevin’s family warmly invites everyone to partake in this celebration of life, turning fond memories into comforting tales to share. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Nelsons Funeral Home in Gaylord.

Impact of a Beautiful Life

The community of Gaylord will undoubtedly miss Kevin. Friends and family continue to find solace in the breathtaking beauty of nature, which often reminds them of the joy and passion he brought to life’s simple pleasures. Kevin’s impact will remain etched in the hearts of those who love him, creating an enduring legacy that will be cherished through the seasons to come.
