Livonia Restaurants Address Health Violations: Hygiene Concerns in Recent Inspections

Hey there folks, guess what popped up in the city of Livonia recently? Unfortunately, not all restaurants are ranking high on the hygiene scale. Between January and July, the city’s Health Department found some restaurants with health violations, namely improper handwashing and the presence of mouse droppings. But don’t worry, many of these issues have been rectified, and a past violation doesn’t mean the restaurant is still dirty.

The data from the inspections, which can be viewed online, come from several restaurants around the city and include instances like the following:

The Happy Wok on Plymouth Rd was caught in February with a few violations: incorrect soup temperature, employees handle food without washing hands, undated leftovers, a damaged can of tomato sauce and a dirty can opener. There was even a can of residential-use Raid spray stashed in the premises. Thankfully, all these problems were rectified during inspection. Talk about immediate response!

Amicos Pizzeria Inc inspected in January had some peculiar violations to say the least. Employees were washing and reusing gloves and there were dead mice found on site! Certification for the food manager was outdated and no chlorine testing kit was available. Oh boy, that’s quite a list. Thankfully, the violations were corrected during inspection.

In May, Sapporo Hibachi Steakhouse & Sushi Bar, was found with several violations too. These ranged from food contamination and incorrect food storage to improper pest control and handwashing issues. Whoa! However, plans to rectify the violations are underway.

Small violations were noted at Mr Kabob Xpress and Pita Pan Mediterranean Grill LLC such as incorrect food storage temperatures, incorrect hand washing practices and dirty utensils. Improper food storage and lack of hygiene provisions were found at Leo’s Coney Island #14 as well. Thankfully, just like the other restaurants, the problems were corrected.

However, folks, remember, it’s always essential to note that just because a violation happened before, does not mean it’s an issue now. Many of these violations were corrected on the spot and we trust our local eateries to serve us meals that are not just delicious, but also safe. Dining out should remain a joy, not a reason to fear.

Stay safe and eat well, Livonia!
