In Livonia, a registered sex offender has recently been indicted on charges of allegedly possessing and receiving child pornography, disclosed from court papers. The man, known as Brett David Goodreau, 43 years old, was faced with these charges last month.

As per the indictment, dated July 23, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, Goodreau is charged with a count of receiving and possessing child pornography. If he’s found guilty, he could be looking at spending between 15 and 40 years behind bars for each of the charges because of his past records.

Efforts to reach his lawyer for a statement were unsuccessful as of Thursday. It was earlier this year that officials got suspicious about Goodreau. In February, a suspect locked up in Bakersfield, California, confessed about sending the man from Livonia videos of child pornography.

Investigators didn’t waste time and checked the suspect’s phone only to find chats between him and Goodreau trading the illicit videos. The investigation also revealed that Goodreau showed interest in getting similar videos, the court documents showed.

In March, agents obtained a warrant and searched Goodreau’s home in Livonia. They came out with multiple electronic devices belonging to him. After examining his mobile phone, they found the chat history revealing 25 images and 195 videos classified as child pornography.

Goodreau admitted to the use of an online platform, notorious for sharing child pornography files, as per the report. The accused parties even gave agents access to his account from where a staggering 1,690 images and 107 videos of underage explicit content was extracted. The agents confirmed that he accessed the account last on March 4.

In addition, they found chats of him with an unknown contact, where they sent each other such content. For Goodreau, this is not his first interaction with the law. Prior to this, he was booked by state officials in 2003 for a fourth-degree sexual conduct crime. Ever since July 17, he has been in confinement.

In a separate case in the same year, a woman accused him of inappropriately touching her 5-year-old child. Once he pleaded guilty to this charge, he was jailed for nine months and had to serve three years of probation.
