In Warren, Michigan, an unusual incident occurred this morning when local law enforcement officers found themselves handcuffing a man wearing nothing but his underwear, only to later uncover a firearm in his house while accompanying him to get a pair of pants.
Brandon Patrick Mills, a 33-year old native of Warren, became a subject of interest for the Canton Township police department due to his implication in an auto theft case from June 2024. As the officers arrived at Mills’ residence for investigation, they found him, oddly enough, rummaging through an Audi SUV parked outside his house wearing only his underwear.
For public safety reasons and further questioning, the officers handcuffed Mills and decided to take him inside to dress appropriately. It was at this point that the incident took a darker turn. Upon inquiring if there were any firearms in the house, Mills confessed to having a 9 mm Glock handgun on his bedroom dresser.
When they located the firearm, its proximity to his infant daughter (no more than three feet away) added another layer of concern to the situation. Given his extensive record of over a dozen felony convictions including charges related to breaking and entering along with arson, Mills was legally prohibited from possessing firearms.
Following the discovery, the gun was seized and authorities promptly called Child Protective Services to ensure the safety of the child. Mills is no stranger to the judicial system, having done several stints in prison in the past. His last known sentence was between 15-300 months for a conviction related to car breaking in 2018. This incident undeniably spells more legal trouble for the chronically troubled resident of Warren.
In the aftermath, the community is left reeling, contemplating the perils of gun possession by convicts and the causal dangers posed to innocent bystanders, in this case, a helpless infant. As of now, further legal action against Mills is pending.
