The charming city of Louisville, Kentucky, mourns the loss of an extraordinary woman, Marylou J. Ansari, who passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025. Originally from Coldwater, Michigan, her life was a tapestry woven with compassion, dedication, and a love for community service.

A Life Well-Lived

Marylou was born on July 29, 1942, in the bustling city of Detroit, MI. She was the cherished daughter of Richard and Lucille (Cotter) Janes. She embarked on a beautiful journey in life when she married Lutifali Ansari on April 18, 1970, in Northville, MI. Together, they shared countless memories until Lutifali’s passing on January 16, 2010.

Education and Career

Marylou was a dedicated professional who earned her Master of Social Work from Wayne State University. She kicked off her career in 1966 at the Department of Social Services in Detroit, making a huge impact until her move to Coldwater in 1974. In her new community, she worked tirelessly at the Coldwater Regional Center from 1977 to 1992 and later contributed ten years at the Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility.

A Heart for Community

Marylou’s commitment extended beyond her profession. She was a dedicated member of St. Charles Borromeo Church and actively participated in the National Association of Social Workers. Her heart for people was evident through her volunteer work with CHC Hospice and her membership in Altrusa of Branch County, where she also served on the Teen Share Board. Furthermore, she contributed to local education by serving on the Coldwater Community School Board as a member of the Michigan Association of School Boards.

Love for Arts and Leisure

Marylou was not only dedicated to her work but also had a zest for life. She loved the arts and was an active participant in the Coldwater Community Theater, showcasing her passion and creativity. Additionally, her love for games was evident as she was a proud member of the American Contract Bridge League.

Family and Legacy

Marylou is survived by her son, Joe (Rebecca) Ansari, who resides in Louisville, KY. She had a tight-knit family that included her siblings Dennis Janes, Frances Brandi, and Janet (Tom) Janes-Leaton, along with her beloved grandchildren Chalen (Rob) Puhalski, Jackson Ansari, Samantha Ansari, and Emily Ansari. The family was further blessed with a great-granddaughter, Aria Puhalski, and a slew of nieces and nephews. Marylou will be dearly missed not only by her family but also by the countless lives she touched.

Memorial and Tributes

To celebrate Marylou’s remarkable life, a Memorial Mass will take place on April 5, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Coldwater, MI. The Mass will be officiated by Rev. Fr. Dan Hyman. Friends and family can pay their respects beginning at 9:30 a.m. before the service. Following the Mass, interment will occur at West Girard Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Marylou’s loving memory to Tibbits Opera House or St. Charles Borromeo Church. Her legacy of service, creativity, and love will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her.
