Northville, MI – Big news for local golf lovers! Meadowbrook Country Club, a historical gem in the area, has just snagged a major accolade. The American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) has officially recognized the club’s recent renovation as part of its 2017 Design Excellence Recognition Program.
Meadowbrook’s golf course is no spring chicken; it’s celebrating a whopping 100 years of providing golfers with a challenging and scenic experience. The club kicked off a massive $5.9 million renovation project last year to cap off its centennial celebrations. All those who have swung clubs on this storied course will be excited to learn it has now been transformed and revitalized!
The course has been closed since October 2015 and remained under wraps for about 18 months. But fear not, golfers! As of May this year, players can finally hit the links on a course that has been fully revamped with brand-new greens, tees, fairways, and rough turf. Over 15 miles of irrigation have also been installed to ensure lush conditions all season long!
Under the skillful eye of Andy Staples from Staples Golf Design, the redesign took place on the original layout devised by Scottish architect Willie Park, Jr., with an assist from the legendary Donald Ross. This incredible team effort has not gone unnoticed, with Golf Inc. Magazine recently voting the renovation as one of the top five in the world!
It’s clear the changes made at Meadowbrook have resonated positively with both players and experts alike. In fact, the ASGCA’s recognition marks Meadowbrook as one of only 11 courses across North and South America to be celebrated for design excellence. Talk about exclusive company!
In response to this esteemed accolade, general manager Joe Marini passionately commented, “On behalf of our membership at Meadowbrook Country Club, we’re honored to be acknowledged by the ASGCA as one of only 11 courses to earn the distinction for design excellence.” He emphasized the pride members feel toward their newly renovated course.
According to John Sanford, president of the ASGCA, this program underscores the innovation and problem-solving spirit that characterize today’s top golf courses. “The 11 named projects continue the tradition of the Design Excellence Recognition Program; well-designed facilities that make a positive impact on the game to benefit golfers and their communities,” he stated.
With the renovations complete and the honors piling in, it looks like Meadowbrook Country Club isn’t just sitting on its laurels. Golf aficionados are eager to see how this revitalized course will impact the local golf scene. It’s already creating buzz, and you can bet that players from near and far will want to experience the new Meadowbrook for themselves.
So, if you’re in the Northville area, gear up for your next golf outing. Swing by Meadowbrook Country Club and see what all the fuss is about; you won’t be disappointed by this luxurious course that’s steeped in history and now shining with modern elegance!
