Exciting Openings and Farewell to Favorites in Metro Detroit’s Dining Scene

Hey, foodies in Metro Detroit! There have been some neat openings and a few bummer departures from our local dining and drinking scene in the last month. Let’s get right into it.

Straight off the bat, we’ve got Doyles Irish Pub in Plymouth. This is not just any old pub – Doyles has a stylish vibe with tartan walls, cool family crests, leather chairs, some really colorful lights and art by Irish photographers. It’s got a top-notch menu with classic Irish dishes like bangers and mash, fish and chips, and a daily pot pie. Oh, and did I mention the outdoor games and the stunning view of the resort’s new golf course? Sounds like a perfect evening, doesn’t it?

Downriver in Brownstown, Maxhari’s Family Restaurant is serving up all the comfort food you’d expect from a family-owned diner. From chili dogs to cheese sticks to a soup of the day, they’ve really got it all. They’re particularly proud of their family focus – with a range of affordable meals for seniors and a kids’ menu with eight options.

For those with a sweet tooth, Peach Cobbler Factory in Detroit made its long-anticipated debut last month. This spot is all things naughtily sweet: fruit cobblers, cinnamon rolls, cookies, brownies, you name it. Can’t decide? You can sample four of their cobblers or puddings with a dessert flight deal. Sounds pretty awesome, doesn’t it?

In Ferndale, Scout has taken over the old M Brew bar space. With the signature Michigan feel, pinball games, and food service starting soon, we’re pretty stoked to have this new addition to our neighborhood hangouts.

That’s not all, we also saw openings from Chipotle Mexican Grill, Dave’s Hot Chicken, Elephant & Co., Finjan Cafe, Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken, Pink Garlic, Portillo’s, and Shankar Distillers.

Unfortunately, we also had to say goodbye to a few favorites. Bandit Tavern and Hideway, Buca di Beppo, Detroit Institute of Bagels, The Morrie, and Smuggler’s Run are now closed. However, some of these are temporary closures, while others might see a new business taking over soon. Patience, folks!

Seems like a pretty decent month for foodies. I’m already excited to see what next month holds!
