Sponsor Our ArticlesDetroit, MI – Get ready for a thrilling showdown, not just on the football field but also in a heartwarming fundraising challenge that promises to make a difference for those in need! As the highly anticipated Michigan vs. Ohio State game approaches, two United Way organizations are going head-to-head in a unique campaign dubbed “United Rivals.”
The United Way for Southeastern Michigan and the United Way of Central Ohio have rolled up their sleeves and put their community fundraising skills to the test, all while keeping the spirit of rivalry alive. Kevin Gregory, the Director of the United Way for Southeastern Michigan, shared his excitement about this initiative, stating, “We have a little bit of fun on social media, on our Facebook and Instagram pages, going back and forth on who’s ahead, who’s in the lead, and what’s happening on the field.” It’s a delightful blend of competition, community, and a cause worthy of everyone’s support!
The beauty of United Rivals lies in how it harnesses the passionate spirit of college football fans while supporting those who need a helping hand. Whether you cheer for the Wolverines or the Buckeyes, your contributions are about more than just school pride; they’re about making a positive impact in your local community. Gregory emphasizes the goal of the initiative, saying it’s about “engaging community members and really making everything better for the community in those two regions.”
United Rivals goes beyond the game by directing funds to assist ALICE households—those who are Asset Limited, Income Constrained, but Employed. These are hardworking individuals who are just one paycheck away from financial crisis. With the support of organizations like the United Way, they aim to lift these families out of crisis and into a more stable and prosperous future.
The competition is heating up! As of the latest updates, the Buckeyes are taking the lead with $27,000 raised compared to the Wolverines’ $6,500. If you’re a Wolverine fan and determined not to let Ohio prevail, now is the perfect opportunity for you to step up and make your donation! Donations of $50 or more will even snag you a limited edition United Rivals t-shirt—a fantastic memento to wear with pride!
Want to keep track of the latest totals or make your contribution? Head over to UnitedRivals.org where you can donate until Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024. And don’t forget to tune in and listen to the game live on your favorite station, or catch the action streaming online. It’s the perfect way to support your team and your community all at once!
This rivalry goes much deeper than just football. It’s about community, unity, and making sure that everyone has the chance for a brighter future. Whether you’re Team Michigan or Team Ohio, let’s band together to show support for those who need it most. Remember, the real victory lies in the difference we can make when we join forces!
So, gear up for the game, rally your teammates, and let’s show that even in rivalry, we can all come together to create real change. Good luck to both sides, and may the best team—and the best cause—win!
