Groundbreaking Ceremony Held for Nino Salvaggio Marketplace at Schoolcraft College in Livonia

LIVONIA: Groundbreaking for New Nino Salvaggio Marketplace at Schoolcraft College

LIVONIA — A new Nino Salvaggio International Marketplace is set to open on the campus of Schoolcraft College, marking an exciting addition to the local community. The formal groundbreaking ceremony took place on Thursday, November 7, signaling the start of construction.

What and Where

The new market will occupy a substantial 48,100-square-foot space in the north commuter parking lot, positioned near the Vistatech Center along Haggerty Road. This site will feature a vast selection of gourmet goods, including fresh produce, high-quality meats, baked goods, and more, similar to existing locations in Bloomfield Township, Clinton Township, St. Clair Shores, and Troy.

When

The marketplace is projected to open its doors in late 2025. Construction will be ongoing over the next several months, with work on the new parking lot slated for completion by December.

Why This Matters

This development will not only enhance shopping options for locals but also serve as an educational hub for Schoolcraft College students. The marketplace aims to provide practical experience for students enrolled in various programs, particularly those focusing on culinary arts and supply chain management. Glenn Cerny, president of Schoolcraft College, expressed enthusiasm about the new store, stating, “Having a Nino Salvaggio International Marketplace right here on campus will give all of our students real-world experience that will enhance their education.”

Community Impact

The Nino Salvaggio brand, founded by the late Nino Salvaggio in 1979, emphasizes community connection. The opening in Livonia represents an extension of their efforts to engage with the tri-county area and bring quality offerings closer to residents. According to Leo Salvaggio, one of the current owners, “On behalf of our entire Nino’s family, we are proud to make this significant investment in the community and excited to introduce our marketplace to Schoolcraft College and the surrounding neighborhoods.”

Future Expectations

As construction progresses, both the college community and local residents eagerly anticipate the unique benefits that the Nino Salvaggio International Marketplace will bring. The collaboration between Schoolcraft College and the Nino Salvaggio brand exemplifies a commitment to serving and enriching the local community.

With the arrival of this new marketplace, Livonia is poised to welcome an innovative shopping experience that combines quality gourmet products with valuable learning opportunities for students. As it stands, the increasing Footprint of Nino Salvaggio holds promise for a thriving community hub that celebrates both education and culinary excellence.
