Northville Shines Bright with Major Donation for Athletic Stadium

Residents of Northville can rejoice as news broke today about a generous donation from Tom Holzer Ford, Inc., located in Farmington Hills. A whopping $250,000 will be funneled into the upgrades for the Northville Public Schools’ athletic stadium, specifically aimed at completing the much-anticipated Phase I improvements. This includes the fabulous installation of artificial turf that many have been eagerly waiting for!

A New Chapter at the Stadium

At a gathering at the stadium this morning, Northville Superintendent Mary Kay Gallagher and Tom Holzer Ford President Constance Holzer inked the ten-year donor agreement, marking the official christening of the facility as Tom Holzer Ford Field. With this exciting deal now on the table, everyone can look forward to utilizing the newly revamped space.

For nearly 50 years, this field has been the pride of the Northville High School Mustangs and numerous middle school athletic teams. Moreover, the stadium, previously known as Eight Mile Stadium, is also a hub for local youth programs in sports like football, soccer, and lacrosse.

First Game on the New Turf

The official kickoff of the new turf will happen at 7 p.m. on August 24, when the championship-winning Mustang Varsity Football Team squares off against the Lakeland High School Eagles. It’s a game that promises to thrill the local community!

How the Community Benefits

“This incredible gift from Tom Holzer Ford means the world to us,” expressed Dottie Garrity, President of the Northville Public Schools Board of Education. “It shows how our community is coming together to support not just our educational programs, but also our extra-curricular activities.”

Constance Holzer emotionally reflected on the partnership, saying, “Our children are our future, and it’s our job to nurture and educate them. It’s a privilege to be part of the wonderful Northville community.”

Details of the Agreement

The donation will see Tom Holzer Ford providing $172,600 upfront, followed by annual contributions of $8,600 for the next nine years. In return, the dealership will not only receive naming rights but will also have its logo displayed prominently at entrances and on the scoreboard.

Plus, Tom Holzer Ford can take advantage of opportunities to advertise in the Mustangs Football Program, promote through LED messages on the scoreboard, and showcase cars during athletic events! And let’s not forget those four athletic passes to all home games!

Impact on Local Sports

Mary Kay Gallagher. “These improvements will elevate our stadium and increase its usage, not just for our athletic teams but also for community programs.”

While the artificial turf project is funded by donations, the district plans to use proceeds from a recently approved millage to initiate further renovations at the stadium. Exciting upgrades like a new press box, lighting, and sound system are all on the horizon!

Looking Ahead

As if that isn’t enough, the community’s TURF CLUB is already gearing up to raise funds for a second phase of improvements aimed at revamping concession, restroom, and locker room facilities.

Support from the Community

Tom Holzer Ford is not a stranger to community service. Located at 10 Mile and Haggerty roads, this dealership has proudly partnered with local organizations like the Farmington Hills YMCA. For them, being involved with the Northville community is more than just business—it’s about fostering a sense of belonging.

For those interested in contributing to the TURF CLUB’s efforts, all donations are managed by the Northville Educational Foundation, which provides crucial support for educational opportunities in Northville Public Schools.

In conclusion, Northville’s landscape is transforming, and with community support like today’s donation, the future looks incredibly bright for local athletics and education alike. How heartwarming it is to see the community band together for a project that will not only enrich the lives of students but also foster greater community engagement!
