Majestic Mansion in Northville to be Auctioned Starting at $1.5 Million

In the charming town of Northville, a majestic mansion named “Castello Montebello” is about to be put up for auction starting at a cool $1.5 million. The gigantic 16,000-square-foot beauty was built in 2000 and overflows with the grandeur of classical European style. Back in 2015, the price tag on this property was a whopping $14.5 million. Most recently, it was on the market for $4.9 million but come Monday, Aug. 26, you can start placing your bids from $1.5 million.

Why such a steep drop in price, you might wonder? The current owner is excited about passing the torch on to the next family who can make this estate their dream home.

Located at 590 Dubuar Street – nestled between Main Street and Eight Mile – sits this stunning manor at arguably the highest point in both Wayne and Washtenaw counties. The property has seven bedrooms, seven full bathrooms, two half baths and a number of impressive features.

In addition to a guardhouse, the estate boasts a striking four-story free-floating staircase that simply takes your breath away. The mansion also includes a massive great room with ceilings that seem to disappear into the sky, a meticulously designed owner’s suite, a paneled library, and heated garages that can hold up to seven cars. There’s even an elevator for a truly posh lifestyle.

But this opulent castle contains even more surprises. Its lower level, perfect for hosting epic parties, contains a classy wet bar next to some chill booth-style seating. There’s a game room for some fun competition and an exercise room to work off the party calories. Of course, no mansion complete without a wine cellar.

The star of the show though is the home’s 13-seat theater, which boasts of design elements that mimic New York City’s iconic Paramount Theater.

One representative from Interluxe Auctions, handling the sale, has said that this estate offers a chance like no other for those seeking the creme de la creme of luxury and exclusivity. The property’s inspection results were practically pristine. Even after 24 years, the mansion is basically free of deterioration.

Interluxe Auctions will be teaming up with Dylan Tent from Birmingham-based Signature Sotheby’s International Realty for the online auction. Together, their mission is to present Castello Montebello to a worldwide audience.

The auction will kick off exclusively online from 9 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 26. If you want to see this marvel in person, there will be openings on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 23-24, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Sunday, Aug. 25 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

You can find more information about the property, including additional pictures and how to register for the bid, at www.interluxe.com/12574.
