Hey Northville Township, nobody from the police department asked you for bitcoin!

Over here in Northville Township, we’ve seen a worrying rise in scams. Now, don’t freak out yet, but we gotta tell you about it. The local police department has been loud and clear: they never asked you for bitcoin – no way, no how!

So here’s the scoop. Some residents have been getting freaky calls from folks claiming to be law and order themselves. They try to spook targets by saying they’re under investigation or got a warrant out for their arrest. Scary, right? But here’s the kicker: these guys are also asking for an instant payment. Usually, they’re asking for bitcoin or some direct cash transfers.

Let’s pull the brakes right there. It’s just not how things are done. As Deputy Chief Matthew MacKenzie puts it: “We want to remind our residents that law enforcement agencies do not request payments over the phone, especially in the form of bitcoin,”

Yup, you heard that right. So, if someone’s pulling your chain with a call or an email saying you’re in deep trouble and that you gotta pay up fast to fix things, well, you know what that is, right? It’s 100% scam.
