On Thursday, in Novi, a life-changing event occurred as a man lost his life in a tragic car accident. Steven Erno, 62, was on his regular commute on Beck Road, going North. Things took a sad turn when his Ford Fusion veered over the centerline, crashing head-on into an oncoming GMC truck.
The call for help rang the police and fire stations at around 5:08 in the evening. They were alerted about the fatal crash spot – Beck Road, just north of 8 Mile Road. Once there, they found Mr. Erno’s vehicle in a devastating state. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead on the scene.
The GMC truck was driven by a 44-year-old Plymouth resident, who miraculously, did not require medical attention. It comes as a relief to know that no other lives were endangered in this unfortunate happenstance.
The authorities have ruled out the possible influence of alcohol or drugs on this accident, at first glance. However, to confirm this, an autopsy is awaiting. The investigation is still ongoing to piece together the incidents leading to the crash.
In face of this event, Adam Elsen, from the Novi Police, took the chance to remind everyone, “Make sure you don’t drive distracted and watch your speeds.” He emphasized the unpredictable nature of roads and urged everyone to always be cautious while driving.
