In a tragic turn of events, a 62-year-old man from
Novi lost his life in a car crash that took place on the 29th of August. The mishap occurred when the vehicle he was driving crossed the centerline and collided with an oncoming vehicle on Beck Road.
The unfortunate man, later identified as Steven Erno, was driving a Ford Fusion, heading north on Beck Road. As per statement from local law enforcement, he veered across the centerline and ended up crashing into a southbound GMC truck.
Steven Erno was tragically declared dead at the scene of the incident. The individual driving the GMC truck, a 44-year-old man from Plymouth, did not sustain any physical injuries that necessitated medical attention.
Local authorities were alerted about the incident at around 5:08 pm on that fateful Thursday. The fatal crash took place on Beck Road, a bit to the north of 8 Mile Road.
As it stands, substances such as alcohol or drugs are not suspected to have been contributing factors to the tragic occurrence. However, authorities are not ruling out any possibilities and an autopsy is scheduled which could point towards any number of causes. The investigation into the exact circumstances of the accident remains underway.
Making a general observation on road safety, one of the officials said, “Ensure you don’t drive distracted and keep an eye on your speed. You never can really predict what might happen out there on the road.”
