The residents of Novi, Michigan, mark your calendars for Saturday, September 21st! It’s time to revamp your gardens at the yearly Perennial Exchange event.
At this popular event, local garden lovers have the chance to exchange their labeled perennial plants with fellow enthusiasts, offering a fun and cost-effective way to diversify their gardens.
Not only does everyone get to swap different varieties of plants, but Oakland County Parks partners will also be there, giving away native plant kits. These giveaways are a great opportunity for those looking to introduce indigenous flora into their green spaces, helping to encourage local wildlife and maintain the area’s natural biodiversity.
As a special guest for the day, the Novi Beautification Commission has invited Novi Fire Captain and Beekeeper Mark Theisen to discuss something that every gardener should be aware of – supporting pollinators in their gardens. With the concern for declining bee and butterfly populations, this is an incredibly essential topic, and something that all of us can lend a hand in by choosing the right plants for our gardens.
The event is set to take place at Fuerst Park and will run from 9-11 am. Participants are advised to pre-register to secure their spots at this highly-anticipated event.
So, fellow Novi residents, gear up for a day of plant swapping, learning, and community. Don’t forget to label your perennials and get them ready for the big swap. See you there!
