Metro Detroit embraces pickleball with 2 more state-of-the-art complexes

Metro Detroit is preparing to welcome two more state-of-the-art pickleball facilities in Northville and West Bloomfield, continuing the region’s trend of embracing America’s fastest-growing sport.

New Pickleball Facilities

PickleRage, a renowned indoor pickleball club franchise, has announced the grand opening of its West Bloomfield facility on Aug. 3. The massive 27,000 square foot location at 7290 Orchard Lake Rd will feature nine professional-grade courts, meticulously controlled for lighting, temperature, and humidity. The facility is set to be operational throughout the year, with a wide range of amenities including a player’s lounge, beer and wine bars, free balls, and paddle lending services. The venue will also offer players the option to video record and live stream their matches.

In addition, construction is due to begin this summer for the largest pickleball complex in the state – the Northville Pickleball Club. Located within the campus of Ward Church at Six Mile and Haggerty, the 50,000-square-foot facility is planned to house 16 state-of-the-art pickleball courts, fully climate-controlled to ensure optimal playing conditions. The facility is projected to be complete and open for play by 2025.

Previous Successes in the Region

These new developments come on the heels of the successful opening of Bash Pickleball Club in Warren in April, which was Metro Detroit’s first pickleball-only complex. Since its opening, the facility, equipped with 10 professional-grade courts, has gained significant popularity, with regular drop-in sessions reaching full capacity.

A Welcome Addition to the Community

Officials at these new facilities have expressed their excitement and anticipation for the grand openings. David Smith, COO of PickleRage, was particularly enthusiastic, stating, “Our goal is to provide a welcoming and dynamic environment for players of all ages and skill levels. The grand opening event is a perfect opportunity for everyone to experience what PickleRage has to offer.”

The Northville Pickleball Club will cater to the community daily through court rentals, leagues, and skill-level sessions. It will feature a pro shop with pickleball equipment and clothing, locker rooms, a café, and meeting rooms for parties and gatherings. The facility is a product of a partnership between Ward Church and private investors, aimed at providing a world-class facility for pickleball players in the community.

Plans for Expansion

Looking forward, PickleRage has ambitious plans to open an additional 500 locations over the next five years. On the other hand, Northville Pickleball Club partners intend to use their research from other facilities across the country to offer the best possible experience to players and fans of the sport.

While waiting for these new facilities to open, Metro Detroit pickleball enthusiasts have several available options to indulge their passion. A list of indoor and outdoor courts across the region provides ample opportunities for the sport’s enjoyment.
