Plymouth Township witnesses a shift in leadership

Plymouth Township witnesses a shift in leadership

In a surprising turn of events in Plymouth Township, long-serving trustee, Chuck Curmi claimed victory over the present supervisor, Kurt Heise in the primary supervisor’s race, held on Tuesday, Aug. 6.

A lifetime member of Plymouth Township, Curmi, 69, garnered 2,609 votes, which translates to 57% of the total 4,607 votes cast. Heise, on the other hand, couldn’t secure his place with his 1,995 votes accounting for 43% of the total vote share.

Given no democrats will be vying for the supervisor position in the upcoming November elections, Curmi is expected to assume the supervisor’s seat. Heise, 58, had initially been elected to the supervisor’s position in 2016.

Further Election News

Meanwhile in other election-related news, Jerry Vorva retained his Republican nomination in the Township clerk’s race. Vorva received 2,411 votes which amounted to 55% of the total, eliminating Andrew Miller, who received 1,942 votes. Vorva will confront Nancy Conzelman, from the Democratic party in the November Elections.

As for the Township Treasurer’s position, incumbent Bob Doroshewitz managed to secure his place with 2,594 votes, representing 59% of the total. His competitor, Janai Stepp, on the other hand, was eliminated with her 1,783 votes.

In the trustees’ race, John Stewart, proclaimed his victory with 2,232 votes, followed by Mark Clinton (2,013 votes), Jen Buckley (2,002 votes), and Sandy Groth (1,920 votes). These four will face-off against Democrats Bob Miller, Angela Nolan, and Michael Westra come November.

The rest of the candidates in the Republican field, including Daniel Callahan, incumbent Audrey Monaghan, Paul Schulz, and Greg Bill, couldn’t make the cut. They got eliminated from the race with 1,823, 1,781, 1,672, and 1,354 votes respectively.

End Notes

This shift in leadership was very vividly demonstrated by the Plymouth Township residents who showed their eagerness for a change.
