Improvements in South Lyon City Trash Pickup Efforts

If you live in South Lyon City, you might have noticed some hiccups with your trash pickup lately. But don’t worry, it seems like things are on the upswing. Prior to the start of the month, a company by the name of Priority Waste took over the duties from GFL Environmental and well let’s just say the transition hasn’t been entirely smooth.

But, hey, don’t panic just yet. According to our trusty City Manager, Paul Zelenak, things are starting to look up. He’s been keeping a close eye on things and says that the issues are lessening day by day.

“As long as we consistently see and they keep reporting to us, and that we do contact them if there’s a problem, they are responsive to us. So, we continue to get better and better until we don’t have those problem,” Zelenak said, sounding hopeful during a recent city council meeting.

He’s also urging folks who are still facing problems with their trash pickup to report it to their city or township. Zelenak and his team have actually been grading Priority Waste’s performance – yep, just like in school. They’re using an ‘A’ to ‘F’ scale, with ‘A’ meaning there are no problems and no calls, whilst ‘F’ is when no garbage gets picked up at all. Bit harsh, but sounds fair.

Zelenak did not shy away from admitting the initial hiccups, “Each week, we see now, like I said last week it actually did get better and we’re probably a ‘B’ grade, based upon the garbage and number of calls we actually received. We see the improvement.”

So, it sounds like we’re steadily moving toward that coveted ‘A’ grade. Hang in there, South Lyon City people. It’s getting better.
