Brace yourself for a thrilling hike organised at Maybury State Park in Northville. Bring out your nocturnal self for a 2-hour hike from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22.
Outdoor Adventure Center along with the DNR Explorer Program staff will guide you through this expedition. However, to join this thrilling adventure, a Recreation Passport is necessary to enter the park. The joy of it? It’s absolutely free! You simply have to register here, but keep in mind to do so prior to the event, as registrations are closing on Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 11 p.m.
Are you all geared up? Great! But remember, the event is best suited for people aged 8 and above. Dressing accordingly is advised as the terrain might get a bit tricky, with outdoor activities on uneven, naturally occurring trails. Rain or shine, the event will go on unless there is extreme weather.
The most exciting thing about this thrilling nocturnal hike is that you will learn about the fascinating world of bats. The program involves exploring bat biology, habitats and ecosystem. So, while you enjoy the hike, you also get to learn all about these extraordinary creatures of the night.
This exciting bat hike is part of the Outdoor Adventure Center’s “more ways to get outside” series, that encourages people to explore the wild. The park itself is a nature’s haven featuring around 1,000 acres of rolling terrains, open meadows, and mature forests. So, what are you waiting for? Gear up and get ready for the adventure!
