Laredo’s TAMIU Wins Seven National Awards at Education Digital Marketing Awards

Laredo Celebrates TAMIU’s Achievement in Digital Marketing

In the vibrant city of Laredo, Texas, excitement and pride filled the air as Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) recently accomplished a fantastic feat in the world of digital marketing. On July 31, 2023, the university’s Office of Public Relations, Marketing and Information Services (PRMIS) brought home not one, not two, but a whopping seven national awards from the prestigious Education Digital Marketing Awards. This annual competition celebrates excellence in education-focused websites, digital content, and electronic communications, and this year saw over 1,000 entries from institutions across the nation.

A Team Effort

The director of PRMIS, Steve Harmon, couldn’t have been prouder of his team’s collective effort. He described the recognition as a warm affirmation of the team’s creativity, drive, innovation, passion, and teamwork. “The creativity, drive, innovation, passion and teamwork this team demonstrates daily drives our efforts to constantly find new and engaging ways to share the university’s mission and story across multiple platforms,” he elaborated.

One remarkable campaign that stood out was the lively “Release the Quacken” event, where hundreds of floating rubber ducks brought a splash of fun to the campus while celebrating TAMIU’s enrollment growth. Another winning initiative was the “Dusty’s Glow-Up” campaign, highlighting the unveiling of the university’s new mascot. These creative approaches not only engage the university community but also enhance the overall perception of TAMIU within the broader community.

Challenging the Norms

For Steve, these accolades do more than just celebrate the past; they serve as motivation to keep pushing the envelope. “It also challenges us to continue to raise our own creative bar and seek new opportunities to tell the university’s story with impact and relevance,” he remarked. Merging traditional storytelling with innovative digital strategies is no small feat, but it’s a challenge that the PRMIS team embraces wholeheartedly.

Community Impact

The awards are not only a nod to the team’s hard work but also an opportunity for TAMIU to enhance its engagement with prospective students and the community. “Our energetic efforts drive positive engagement, recruitment, retention, as well as community perception and partnership,” Steve explained. Whether it’s through interactive social media campaigns, engaging microsites, or signature events, the aim is to keep the community involved and informed.

Celebrating Together

When the news of the awards arrived via email, there was no shortage of excitement. Harmon described the moment as leading to both real and virtual high-fives among the team. “We were all excited by the news,” he added. The accomplishment is a testament to their hard work, showing that TAMIU is a force to be reckoned with in the field of education marketing.

Looking Ahead

While basking in the glory of these awards, the TAMIU PRMIS team is already looking ahead. They understand that the creative landscape is constantly evolving, and they are committed to continuing their journey of growth and innovation. Harmon noted, “Each year, we aspire to outdo ourselves and that’s what keeps us enthusiastic about sharing TAMIU’s remarkable story.”

TAMIU’s PRMIS department’s triumph at the Education Digital Marketing Awards is not just a victory for the team itself but for the entire Laredo community. As schools around the country vie for recognition, it’s moments like these that remind everyone of the importance of creativity, collaboration, and community spirit in education.
