Sponsor Our ArticlesShocking new footage has come to light depicting local police and a Secret Service agent standing over the lifeless body of Thomas Matthew Crooks, the individual who attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump. The video indicates the 20-year-old sniper was recognized as a potential threat before he began his attack.
The bodycam material, revealed by Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley, shows a pool of blood trailing from Crooks’ body on the roof where the attack took place. The traumatic event occurred during a Trump rally in Pennsylvania earlier this month, where Trump was wounded, and a brave firefighter lost his life.
A man believed to be a Secret Service agent is heard in the footage discussing to a Beaver County Emergency Service Unit officer that the body appeared to belong to the suspicious person they had previously been warned about. On examining the photos on an iPhone, the identity of the threat was unmistakably confirmed. The pictures showed Thomas Matthew Crooks, the 20-year-old who made an assassination attempt on Donald Trump during the rally.
A few significant details concerning the assassination attempt have emerged since the incident. Crooks shot at Trump, grazing his ear, killed a 50-year-old retired fire chief, and caused severe injuries to two other attendees. The FBI revealed that Crooks had searched for details of Trump’s campaign appearances and the Democratic National Convention intensively showing clear interest in targeting high-profile individuals. Trump recounted the surreal experience of surviving the assassination attempt. Following the incident, national leaders, including President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, addressed the nation, condemning it as a ‘heinous, horrible, and cowardly act’.
Afterward, law enforcement discovered Crooks’ car filled with explosives near the location. Subsequent investigation revealed that the Secret Service had been warned about the potential threat imposed by Crooks approximately 10 minutes before the rally commenced but, unfortunately, failed to prevent him from attacking.
Under the weight of immense public interest and scrutiny, Senator Grassley insisted that the Secret Service and federal agencies maintain transparency regarding the details of the assassination attempt. The Senator also questioned the distribution of authority and jurisdiction between the Secret Service and local police over different areas in the rally.
The mention of drones by law enforcement personnel in the recovered footage pointed towards the use of an Unmanned Aerial System (UAS), possibly deployed by Crooks to scout the vicinity prior to the shooting. Grassley sought further clarification on the use of UASs by law enforcement agents during the event and the involvement, if any, of a nearby water tower overlooking the entire campus in the incident.
The assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump has put federal law enforcement agencies under severe public scrutiny, and there is a pressing need for them to remain transparent throughout the investigation.
