Trump Criticizes Harris, Expresses Discontent Over Biden’s Withdrawal
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.
Former president, Donald Trump, launched a series of verbal attacks on Vice President Kamala Harris, labeling her a “bum” and decrying her performance within the current administration at a faith-themed event on Friday. The former president was a key speaker at the Turning Point USA Believers’ Summit located in West Florida.
Trump railed against Harris, stating, “She was a bum three weeks ago. She was a bum, a failed vice president.” He also criticized her stance on illegal migration, blaming her for the escalating numbers of apprehensions at the southern border.
Alienation of Harris
Trump along with several Republicans have often attempted to paint Harris as the chief orchestrator of Biden’s immigration policy. Despite the fact that Biden tasked Harris with the role of coordinating with Central American countries to tackle root causes of migration, Harris was never granted full control over border policy. Moreover, Trump continued his efforts to depict Harris as a radical leftist and declared her as the “most incompetent, unpopular, and far-left Vice-President in American history.”
Drawing more attention to Harris’s political journey, Trump targeted her past statements about the “defund the police” movement. Harris had previously suggested the need for a reevaluation of these budgets to ensure they portrayed the correct priorities. However, a spokesperson for Harris promptly refuted these comments, stating both Biden and Harris didn’t support defunding the police.
Trump’s Response to Biden’s Withdrawal
Trump further voiced his discontent regarding Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential race. He claimed that replacing Biden on the ticket was essentially a “coup”. Currently, Harris has secured the majority of pledged delegates, essential for winning the Democratic nomination at the party’s convention next month.
Harris’s Mission Going Forward
Following Biden’s withdrawal, Harris has geared up for an intensive campaign, picking a running mate ahead of the Democratic National Convention. Her vigorous campaigning has seen a surge of financial support and an influx of volunteers rallying for her cause. Additionally, her standing in head-to-head numbers against Trump have improved.
Despite Harris’s steady rise, Trump continued to harbor resentment against Biden, considering the switch unbefitting. Trump lamented in a statement, “So, we are forced to spend time and money on fighting Crooked Joe Biden, he polls badly after having a terrible debate, and quits the race. Now we have to start all over again.”
Public Response in West Palm Beach
In contrast to the politically-themed rhetoric of the event, the audience seemed primarily interested in issues related to faith and religion. Turning Point USA president Charlie Kirk reinforced the common ground for attendees, saying, “Our mission is very simple. We exist to kick wokeism out of the American church.”
As the event in West Palm Beach concluded, it exhibited a stark contrast between the polarizing politics of the day and the collective strength and unity of the attendees standing on faith.
