Sponsor Our ArticlesFrom the city of Westland, there’s a disturbing report making rounds about a man suspected of a fatal stabbing. Just yesterday, they charged him in connection with the crime.
Richard Waltiere Jr. is the man in the hot seat. He was arraigned at the 18th District Court facing a second degree murder charge. The court authorities set his bond at $1 million.
The appointed attorney representing Waltiere is yet to be named, as there weren’t any records showing this online as of this past Wednesday afternoon.
How did Waltiere end up here? Well, at the crack of dawn on Monday (4 a.m. to be precise), the police cuffed him after tagging him as a suspect in the stabbing case.
According to the police, the victim was discovered unconscious and breathing on the ground. This happened sometime around 8 p.m. on Sunday. They found him near Grand Traverse Street and Missaukee Court.
The victim’s a 58-year-old man from the same city, identified as Donald Soulliere. The emergency team quickly whisked him off to the Beaumont Annapolis Hospital but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.
Waltiere isn’t off the hook yet. He’s expected back in the same court on August 29 for a probable cause hearing. Following that, there will be a preliminary hearing on September 5.
This isn’t the first stabbing that’s jolted the Metro Detroit area. Earlier this summer, law enforcement teams had their hands full dealing with two other fatal stabbings. One in Redford Township in June and the other one in Clinton Township last month. It’s indeed a rough season for the community.
In the face of all this, keeping you informed and safe remains our top priority. We’ll keep tabs on the case and bring you the latest updates as they unfold.
