A shocking incident unfolded in Westland, Michigan.

Around 8 p.m. on Sunday (August 18), local police officers were called out to the streets. They rushed to the crossing of Grand Traverse and Missaukee Court, where they encountered a chilling sight.

58-year-old Donald Soulliere, a resident of Westland, was found laying on the ground, unconscious but breathing. Upon investigation, it became evident that Soulliere had been stabbed. The officials present on the scene immediately started life-saving procedures.

Soulliere was promptly transferred to Beaumont Annapolis Hospital. Despite the best efforts of the medical personnel, Soulliere passed away due to the severity of his injuries.

Fast forward a few hours, at around 4 a.m. on Monday, Westland Police successfully tracked down 48-year-old Richard Waltiere Jr., who was also a Westland resident. Waltiere was taken into custody without incident.

Brought in front of the judge on Wednesday, August 21, Waltiere faced his charges. These included one count of homicide and second-degree murder. The court didn’t show any leniency and slapped a hefty $1,000,000 bond on Waltiere.

Richard Waltiere Jr. is expected to return to court for a probable cause hearing set for August 29 at 9 a.m. Subsequently, he will appear in court for a preliminary hearing on September 5.
