Hey folks! We got some great news coming from Wixom. The construction on Grand River, a heavy traffic place in our city, is finally done. The Road Commission for Oakland County along with the City of Wixom has wrapped up the project in this area from Napier Road to Wixom Road.

Wait for it! They spent a whopping $5.4 million on this project that began on April 1st this year. The outcome? It’s pretty clear that our beloved Grand River road is going to be a lot safer and easier to use. The main highlights of the huge makeover include a complete repaving of the old pavement with asphalt, enhancing the drainage systems, paving parts of the road shoulder, and even installing a continuous center left-turn lane spanning from Napier Road to 12 Mile. How about that?

Besides these cool enhancements, our pedestrians are in for a surprise too. Crosswalks on Grand River have been upgraded to make them compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This means, more safety and convenience for everyone using that road.

Remember those traffic signals at the intersections of Grand River and Napier Road, and another at Grand River and 12 Mile? Yes, those have been modernized too, improving both safety and efficiency for users.

Now, you might be wondering about the traffic during the construction. Well, the good thing is, traffic was allowed on Grand River throughout this period. That meant lesser disruptions for our daily commuters and residents. Sweet, isn’t it?

But hey, don’t be surprised if you see some ongoing work around the corner. The Road Commission has announced that they will be restoring the grassy areas behind the curbs. Though this will lead to some periodic lane closures, they assure us that it will be for a short time and planned in a way to reduce any impact on traffic.

So folks, take a drive down the newly improved Grand River road and enjoy the smooth ride. In the end, it’s all about getting us where we need to go, safely and efficiently. Happy Driving!
