Wixom Gets a Brand new Logo
Hey folks in Wixom! Get ready for a change because our city has just unveiled a new logo for the first time since the 1990s. Yup, it’s been around 30 years since the last change was made.
Our city council okayed the new logo last month. It features the city’s name with a bold blue and red ‘X’ which is pretty neat, don’t you think?
Mayor Patrick Beagle expressed that while Wixom is a special place for all who live and work here, it needed a brand makeover that really resonated with the city’s identity.
A brand shouldn’t just look good; it should make you feel good too. The new logo aims to offer that ‘Welcome to Wixom’ feeling every time you enter our community.
For those who don’t know, the previous logo was implemented back in the early 90s. But this time, it was more than just a logo refresh. A bunch of local residents and businesses got together last fall and formed a committee in partnership with Wixom’s Downtown Development Authority (DDA). Their mission? To come up with a brand style guide for the new logo.
This wasn’t just a closed-door affair either. The committee went out and collected public input through community surveys, tours, focus groups and workshops. Isn’t that amazing?
According to Drew Benson, assistant city manager and director of economic development, the new logo brings a prominent visual identity to Wixom, while keeping in touch with the city’s roots. Residents seem to agree, with most giving a thumbs up to the new logo so far.
What comes next? Over the coming months, the city and DDA will be gradually rolling the logo out in phases. First they’re going to update all their digital stuff, followed by city forms and documents. And over the next few years, they also plan to replace signage at parks, community facilities, city entrances, and more.
For more deets on the logo, you can check out the city’s official website. Wixom has been around since 1957, and this logo is geared to carry its rich history and significance into the future.
Let’s just say, this isn’t your grandpa’s Wixom anymore!
