Construction Project on Grand River in Wixom City Wraps Up Successfully

Residents in the city of Wixom can now breathe a sigh of relief as the significant construction project on Grand River comes to its conclusion. Conducted in conjunction with the Road Commission for Oakland County and the City of Wixom, the project saw expansive upgrades being performed from Napier Road to Wixom Road on Grand River.

The $5.4 million project, initiated on the first day of April, witnessed significant improvement in the safety and functionality of the formerly bustling road. Some much-needed renovations were part of the project, such as repaving with asphalt after eradicating the old pavement, refurbishing drainage systems, paving parts of the road shoulder, and setting up a center left-turn lane continuously running from Napier Road to 12 Mile.

Not stopping there, pedestrian crosswalks were given a facelift to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Such upgrades are projected to positively influence traffic flow and establish a safer environment for everyone using the road.

Another noteworthy part of this project was the modernization of traffic signals at the intersections of Grand River and Napier Road, as well as at Grand River and 12 Mile, fostering an enhanced sense of safety and efficiency.

Throughout the renovation process, the authorities valiantly maintained traffic flow on Grand River, effectively minimizing disruption for commuters and residents alike. However, the public is advised that some additional work might occur to restore grassy areas behind the curbs. This might necessitate temporary lane closures. Nevertheless, these closures are anticipated to be brief and are strategized to generate a minimal impact on traffic.

In summary, the City of Wixom, and its residents, can look forward to smoother and safer journeys on the newly renovated Grand River road.
